ZEISS presents its first focal plane riflescope product family. The family consists of two series – the ZEISS LRP S5 which has been already presented to the market and is now available, and the all-new ZEISS LRP S3. The product family for long-range precision shooting and hunting includes high performance optics, an impressive total elevation travel, a daytime visible illuminated reticle, and a ballistic stop with an external locking windage turret. The LRP S5 is now available in two models: 318-50 and 525-56 whereas the ZEISS LRP S3 will be offered in April 2023 as 425-50 and 636-56. Both are provided in either milliradian (MRAD) or minute-of-angle (MOA) configurations.

With the ZEISS LRP product family, we have expanded our riflescope portfolio to provide highly reliable optics for successful long-range precision shooting and long-distance hunting. The LRP S5 is the flagship product of our high-end ZEISS LRP product family, the LRP S3 offers a high-end option to enter this segment.

ZEISS LRP S5 – high premium riflescope to dominate the competition

ZEISS LRP S5 – High performance optics ensures exceptional image quality

The premium optical design of the LRP S5 utilizes ZEISS Fluoride lens elements, SCHOTT glass and ZEISS’s proprietary T-Star lens coatings for optimum color fidelity, image brightness, exceptional resolution, and edge-to-edge sharpness within the entire field-of-view. The scopes deliver 90% light transmission to the eye for faster target identification and validation of the finer details down range. The exterior facing lenses are final coated with ZEISS LotuTecTM protective lens coating to repel water, dust, dirt, fingerprints and more.

ZEISS LRP S5 – Tactile and highly repeatable turrets and impressive total elevation travel

“In long-range rifle competitions, shooters will experience challenging conditions like switching winds, poor and harsh lightning or the stress of time”, explained Kyle Brown, Director of Marketing and Product for ZEISS Consumer Products USA, who is an experienced long-range precision shooter himself. “You may not be able to control these conditions, but you can certainly adjust for them with your choice of a riflescope.”

The ZEISS LRP S5 offers an external elevation turret with larger font sizes and dual row engraving. The turret also incorporates the mechanically robust ZEISS Ballistic Stop feature, which provides a rock-solid return to zero. In addition, the all-new ZEISS External Locking Windage Turret (ELWT) allows the shooter to pull out on the locking collar, make necessary adjustments, and then lock-in the selected setting. The MOA-based turrets are adjustable with .25 MOA click values and offer 30 MOA of travel per rotation. Each click is audible and provides a tactile confirmation for every adjustment. The MRAD turret features a more pronounced click at whole MRAD intervals. The ZEISS LRP S5 offers best-in-class - 140 MOA or 40.7 MRAD - total elevation adjustment which enables shooters to engage targets up to 1500 yards - and beyond.

ZEISS LPR S5 – Diffractive illuminated, smart reticles allow precise shot placement

The first focal plane reticles ZF-MOAi and ZF-MRi represent MOA and MRAD reticle designs. “Our reticles were developed with professional input from active competitors and instructors”, reported Brown. The diffractive reticle illumination technology of the LRP S5 is digitally controlled, creates an ultra-bright daylight visible point-of-aim, and has an auto-off feature controlled by angle and time sensors. Thus, the target can always be aimed precisely even in difficult lighting conditions.

ZEISS LRP S3 – premium optics to get ready for competition

ZEISS LRP S3 – Impressive total elevation travel engages the most distant targets

With up to 46.5 MRAD or 160 MOA of total elevation travel for the LRP S3 425-50 and 32 MRAD or 110 MOA for the LRP S3 636-56, the LRP S3 ensures the bullet impact even on distant targets. The LRP S3 utilizes ZEISS’ external elevation turret with enhanced engraving for precise shot placement. Together with the ballistic stop, which provides an absolute and true return to zero, and the external locking windage turret, the ZEISS LRP S3 models offer the shooter easy access for immediate wind correction and a locking feature to secure the setting.

ZEISS LRP S3 – Advanced optics for detailed and precise images

The LRP S3 is equipped with ZEISS optics allowing the shooter to quickly locate and define the targets. The first focal-plane riflescope LRP S3 utilizes extra-low dispersion (ED) lens elements and multi-layer ZEISS’ proprietary T* lens coating to offer precise color fidelity, image brightness and edge-to-edge sharpness within the entire field-of-view. With light transmission of 90% the shooter can identify the target clearly and easily. ZEISS’ protective LotuTecTM lens coating to repel dust, dirt, or fingerprints, complete the optical design of the ZEISS LRP S3.

ZEISS LRP S3 – Daylight visible illuminated reticles for intuitive aiming

The first focal plane reticles ZF-MOAi and ZF-MRi represent MOA and MRAD reticle designs. “Each incorporates distinct, clean, and easy-to-understand reference marks along the main horizontal and vertical lines of the reticle”, explained Brown. The LRP S3 offers fine line reticle subtensions and floating center dots to serve the demands of precision shooters and long-range hunters alike. Only the center section of the reticle illuminates for the most precise point of aim even when viewing against challenging targets or in harsher lighting conditions. The user can select red or green illumination and the preferred setting from five intensity levels.

ZEISS LRP product family – Robust and compact for usage in rough terrain

“Challenging competitions or hunts over long distances require the highest quality and absolute reliability. This is exactly what our LRP product family has in common”, stated Brown. With their 34mm aluminum main tube mono bloc housing, shock resistance of up to 1,500g-force, waterproofness up to 400mbar and their robust housing the ZEISS LRP product family, consisting of LRP S5 and LRP S3, is not only compact but also very robust and engineered for extreme usage in rough terrain. “The new ZEISS first focal plane family meets all requirements not only for long-range competitions but also for particularly demanding hunting situation over long distances. With the new ZEISS LRP S3 we offer an ideal riflescope to get ready for any challenging competitions while our LRP S5 guarantees the best optics to dominate the toughest hunts and shooting competitions”, Brown summed up.
