The clever mechanics consist of a gimbal-mounted spring joint that moves in all four directions and connects the prisms to the housing. During transport the entire system is locked securely in position. To stabilise the device, simply press the release button to free the spring joint. This then effectively absorbs all the shakes and vibrations affecting the housing and prevents them being transferred to the prism system. In the optical interplay of the eyepiece, fixed prism and lens, the act of tipping is compensated for in the direction of the passing light. Spring tension, cushioning magnets and inertia ensure in an intelligent way that the line of sight through the binoculars stays constant despite any wobbling, and that the image therefore remains steady.
With an outstanding 60 mm optic for ambitious 20 x magnification, these robust binoculars remain the benchmark for image stabilising hunting optics. Try them and see for yourself.
