A cameraman operates a professional cinema camera mounted on a dolly system, equipped with ZEISS lenses, in a studio setting.

CinCraft Mapper is conceptualized, made and programmed by the creators of the optics, which gives the user confidence that the results obtained in both maps (distortion and vignetting) are very accurate and reliable.

Reach your goal in four steps

How to generate ST and Multiply Maps
Import your shot into the CinCraft Mapper client. The software automatically extracts embedded camera and lens metadata.
Verify the metadata. Missing metadata can be reconfigured manually. Manual entry of all data is also possible.
Select ST Maps and/or Multiply Maps, confirm the purchase and trigger the local generation.
Use the maps in your favorite compositing or matchmoving software.

As a former VFX supervisor I know how tough it is, to take care of every detail you need for a rock-solid distortion workflow. CinCraft Mapper would have saved days on set and in post-production, which can now be used for more creative freedom.

Why Mapper

Get frame-accurate lens characteristics

Lens grids are only provided for a few focus distances. This makes editing complex shots with focus pulls more difficult and requires a lot of manual work. By providing lens distortion and shading characteristics for every single frame and focus distance of a shot, CinCraft Mapper eliminates guesswork and makes the workflow easier and faster.

  • Yes, we also allow you to enter metadata manually and configure an entire shot individually. Most of the time you have the data on a sheet, but not embedded in the file. This is no longer a problem with our Mapper.

  • Two side-by-side black and white checkerboard patterns on a black background, with the left pattern slightly distorted and the right one appearing uniform.

Comparing lens grids shot at different focusing distances shows how much the distortion of a lens varies from close focus to infinity. This emphasizes the importance of getting accurate lens distortion and shading data for every single frame of a shot, which CinCraft Mapper provides.

  • Yes, you cannot use our service without an internet connection. The advantage of the connection is that it is always up to date. You will always receive the latest data from us. That way you won't miss any news.
