EPSRC Strategic Equipment Fund
Fund Overview
The UK Research and Innovation - Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (UKRI-EPSRC) aims to maintain the competitiveness of UK research by investing into projects that align with its underpinning values: advanced, novel equipment and the continued development of research capabilities. The Strategic Equipment Fund aims to support the adoption of novel technologies, tools and approaches which are transforming physical sciences research. The objective is to advance the understanding of the dynamic, complex processes of life and how these can translate into both societal and economic benefits.
EPSRC SEC Call Application Guidelines:
- Projects enabling transformative research of high importance to EPSRC and the UK
- Projects that maintain or improve UK status as a world-leader in research
- Projects which will enhance the capacity and capability of the host institute
- Projects that accelerate careers for researchers and technical staff
Fund Value
Applications may seek to fund equipment above the value of £400K (inc. VAT). There is no definitive upper limit. Costs are covered at 100% full economic costing (FEC), though contributions from the applicant institute are viewed favourably.

- 2-page Outline Submission
- Full 8-page Submission
- Interview
- Award
