| OBERKOCHEN/Germany, 21.08.2008. The cinemizer video eyewear from Carl Zeiss is on display at the Gravis booth (109) in Hall 17 at the 2008 IFA (International Funkausstellung) in Berlin from August 29 – September 3. The cinemizer allows iPod users to enjoy their own movie collection anytime, anywhere. Carl Zeiss thus establishes another milestone in the wide-spread use of mobile video. Apple only significantly increased the demand for movies and TV series on the iPod in January this year with the introduction of iTunes Movie Rental. “Practically everyone is aware of mobile music,” says Andreas Klavehn, Marketing Multimedia Devices Manager at Carl Zeiss. “Now the use of video applications on mobile devices is ready for a breakthrough.” The cinemizer simulates a 115 cm (45 inches) screen at a distance of two meters. This eliminates a considerable acceptance problem: Until now, users complained about displays that were too small. It could not be any easier to connect the cinemizer to the iPod: It comes with a connector that enables the user to conveniently connect a portable device to the battery box of the video eyewear without additional cables. Once connected, the user can enjoy up to four hours of movies. If the battery on the iPod is empty, the cinemizer battery takes over. Furthermore, cinemizer buyers receive different adapter clips that are tailored to the different types of iPod. The stylish and futuristic appearance does not mean a sacrifice in wearing comfort: Users can individually adjust the 115 gram cinemizer to the size of their heads. The ear pieces can be adjusted just as easily. The nose bridge can be exchanged to obtain an optimal viewing angle. Eyeglass wearers can select a diopter setting between +3.5 and -3.5. “Users can enjoy their favorite movies practically anywhere except when they are jogging or driving,” says Andreas Klavehn. “The cinemizer is a relaxing way of dealing with long waiting and travel times. You can now watch movies, music videos, documentation, news and even the latest YouTube videos without being disturbed”. The cinemizer is available in all Gravis stores and at Amazon.de for 369 euros.
